Problem with MP4

Yeah I have a problem with my Mp4 player. You see the problem occurs
when I'm trying to turn it on the power does not turn on. It only turns
on when the ac adapter is plugged.I thought it needed to be recharged
but that's not it. Any idea's to what could be the problem?
