Question:

Problem with Sony Handicam (dvd-rw)?

I own a Sony Handycam (DCR-DVD101). I use Fuji Film DVD-R disks in it and never have a problem. I decided to try a rewriteable disk Fujifilm DVD-RW. And this is what the screen says

Format

Rec Format VIDEO

Execute

Est Process Time: 25 sec

Rec Format: Video

I tried hitting rec format and it gives me another choice of VR.

I tried hitting Execute and it executed my blank disk so now I can't use it!

I have no idea how to make the camera work with this disk. Any suggestions? It doesn't work when I hit record.

I don't know what other information I would need to give to get help but if there is other info that would be useful, ask me and I will post it. THANK YOU!!!

  1. You should still be able to reuse the disk because it is rewriteable.  Check page 74 in your manual!! If you don't have a manual you can access one online at the Sony support site for your camcorder model....Good luck.

  2. The Fuji Film DVD-RW may not work (It is in the book whichones work and which ones don't) however I know that when you have a -RW rather than an -R you need to change the setting to VR or is uses it like an -R and if you excuted it you may not be able to get it back because it will treat it like an -R and will "burn" the info into it
