Problem with Sony Handycam tape?

I want to transfer a video from my video camera (from a cassette) to my computer, so I can make a DVD.

The problem is that when I insert the tape into the Handycam (correctly), the cam beeps and says "Reinsert the tape". I take the tape out and put it back in, but it keeps saying that.

What's the problem? How can I get the camera to "accept" the tape?

Try winding the tape tight (not too much, though) before loading it into the camcorder.

You should also try different cassettes to help determine whether or not it's the cassette or the camcorder.
