Question:

Problem with Start / Command option

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I open my start menu, then I go to 'run', I am trying to figure out my default router, my primary DNS, and my Secondary DNS...

...I type in 'ipconfig'

it pops up for one second, then it closes automatically.

I am on my laptop, vaio; I also tried it on my desktop.

Am I doing something wrong?

  1. First type  CMD at the Run dialog box.

When the window opens up the command prompt type in  IPconfig /all   ( There is a space after ipconfig but not after the  / ). There you will be able to see the message that is being returned

  2. Actually it's supposed to do that the way you opened it.

To do what you're trying to do, you need to open the "command prompt" first.  When you go to Start > Run, type CMD instead of ipconfig.  Then, you'll get a black box with white letters where you can type "ipconfig /all" without quotes.

  3. In start type " cmd " then when the black box comes up type " ipconfig " in it

  4. Simple error.

Start > Run > type in CMD

In CMD box type ipconfig /all and press enter
