I recently installed Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) on my laptop. I used the whole hard-drive (single boot). It installed correctly and I was able to use it. I installed AWN and changed some of the themes and backgrounds etc. After restarting my laptop, Ubuntu doesn't start up. The Grub loads, but after that it just shows a black screen. Any ideas as to how i should fix this?

  1. I can't tell you what you did to make it like that, but use your LiveCD to boot back up, it will allow you access to all your files including your configuration files so you can change back whatever is wrong. Visit the Ubuntu forums for real help, or you can start the default IRC client that comes with Ubuntu and visit the default server/channel, that should be an Ubuntu room where you can get help. Somebody there should either recognize your problem, or they'll be able to guide you to whatever config file you need to change to fix the problem.
