Question:

Problem with Volvo S40 blind spots?

I had difficulty left-shoulder checking with my S40 because my left-shoulder check almost totally blocked by the seat head-set and frame of the left doors.

I had attached a convex on my left exterior mirror but the image is too small to see clearly.

I had my left-shoulder check whenever doing left lane changing, but I was often honked back to my lane.

I tried to buy a ''LaneChanger'' or 'blind-spot eliminator' but they would NOT fit my S40 rear-view mirror. (New S80 has 'blind-spot eliminator' which is factory-build-in.)

WOuld you please give me some advice?

  1. I've have had some of my customers installed those little rectangle shaped mirrors on their cars so that they don't have to worry about blind spots and they have said that they are working.

  2. Adjust your side view mirrors correctly, this will help you with the blind spots, added benefit is that at night you will not have lights reflecting into your eyes.

I agree about the small image in convex mirrors, this is why PROPERLY adjusted side view mirrors are essential. If you don't carry rear seat passengers take the rear head rests out till you get used to the mirrors, it seems to help.

  3. ok get some velcro to stick on the back of the lane changer  and stick it  on the back of the reg mirror

  4. I've got the same car, fixed the problem with little blind spot mirrors for your side mirrors. THey're little circle mirrors that fit and work quite well.
