Question:

Problem with a Teacher? Bribery?

Ok, this is what happened in school.

During my biology class we had a discussion with my teacher about giving money to the judges who are to grade us in a presentation so they can get food. When she asked on how much we would pay we were all silent. She then said that we were selfish, told us that we would get a low grade if we did not pay for the judges food, even though we all agreed to pay after she still thought of us as selfish. She did some computations even though we said we would pay an amount. Even an higher amount she would not accept due to fear of anger due to parents. After thinking about what she said I blurted out and said "Isn't it like bribery Ms.?"(Without Complaining) After that, she responded with anger saying that it is not bribery but it is generosity. After that she said that she would not accept any payments, if anybody payed she would make our grades worse and lower. The problem I had with this teacher is that she said that we would get low grades if we were not to pay, and what she said was really wrong. Now everyone is blaming me to why my teacher is gonna give us low grades. Giving low grades because of not paying for something that is not related to academics is irresponsible. Even though I know that our grades won't be threatened, my classmates still don't agree with me that our grades will not be in danger. Should I complain? Where should I complain?

  1. Your teacher should not demand....PERIOD!

Yes, you should complain to your principal (if you are in HS) or to your Dean (if you are in College)...your teacher needs to learn that in generousity, there is no pressure...in generousity, it is from the heart, not from getting scared of having low grades...that is absurd...

  2. Definitely complain, but do it in writing and get your parents to sign off on it.  What if the teacher was pushing drug use? Seriously, the hat fits.  YOU're becoming aware of the peculiarities of other adults and now is the time to stand up.  Besides, adult volunteers shouldn't expect minors to pay for their services.  If they do, then they shouldn't be there.

  3. is your teacher sick?

it's not generosity in my idea.it's wrong.

don't pay attention to your classmates they seem to be sick, too.you said what you should in my idea.

even(maybe)you can complain of the teachers request.she CANNOT just lower your grades.if she did you'd talk to the principle
