Problem with a disk read error. My computer keep giving me the "a disk read error occured

My computer keep giving me the "a disk read error occured press ctrl + alt + del to restart but when i take these steps it brings me right back to the a disk read error has occured press ctrl + alt + del to restart. What am i doing wrong or what should i do to get my computer to restart.Any help will be appricated.My laptop is Compaq Presario 2770, i am getting disk read error message along with ctrl+alt+delete to restart along with it i am getting a beep Pls help me out regards
