Problem with card reader?

I purchased a targus TRG-SD20 digital card reader/writer. I installed the drivers. The problem is my laptop doesn't detect the card reader. I have win XP on my laptop, and the drivers are for win98. I know this shouldn't matter, but why won't my laptop detect this.

Check the manufacturers website, and see if it is compatible with XP. Many devices were orphaned by windows, and they did not provide any drivers for the reader.
