Please Help. I have a 03 zx6rr. When i start the bike and put it into first gear it starts to roll forward with the clutch all the way in and it wont let me shift to neutralDoes it need to be adjusted? If so please tell me how to do so. I know there is a wheel at the clutch and two bolts at the end of the wire. Please tell me how to do this and which way to go. Is this a adjustment problem or should i get a new clutch. How much is a new clutch installed

  1. Don't fret.  Your clutch just needs adjustment.  Here's the procedure:

    1.  Unscrew the adjuster wheel a couple turns.  That is, if you are looking at the wheel from the side where the cable comes out, turn it COUNTER-CLOCKWISE.  Sometimes there is a little metal tab that kinda locks the wheel in place - if it prevents you from turning it, just pull it gently up while you turn.

    2.  Check the freeplay in the clutch lever.  Acceptable free play is typically 2-4 millimeters measured at the very tip of the lever.  You check it with the clutch lever all the way out (i.e. hands off).  Then gently rock it back and forth with your thumb and index finger (in the direction of clutch application).

    3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until desired clutch free play is attained.

    Daaas eeet!

  2. there are manuals available at your local library or online. look fir a Haynes or Clymer manual and it will have complete instructions on how to adjust your clutch. it sound like you are right about the problem being poor adjustment.
