Problem with computer?

Well recently I have been wandering around and it said I got infected by spyware so I freaked out. It said I need Windows Xp so I installed it on my computer. I tried to get rid of it, by going onto Remove or Change programs to remove it. But somehow it won' get off my pc. I don't want to buy it, but it keeps scanning my computer and it annoys me. How do I get rid of it? Oh yeah and I uploaded Internet Explorer 7 but it won't let me get on any pages. I type in a url and it always says this site may contain virus and stuff like that. I press don't care go on but it leads me back. What do I do?

At this stage, I would recommend backing up all your files and immediately reformatting your PC. Save all your important files online or to an external storage device. Erase and reinstall everything on your computer using the Windows Install CD.

Be careful when retrieving your backed up files from the external storage device. You might have gotten some malicious software on it also.
