Several months ago I was using my laptop (Dell Inspirion 80GB)computer and it began telling me that updates had been installed and windows needed to shut down. I was in the process of doing a time constrained task, so I told it not to shut down a couple times and then when I was down I let it shut down. The problem is, it hasn't come back up. I can't get it to come up in safe mode even. It comes up and gives me the option to open windows in either safe mode or normal, etc. But, this is as far as it goes. I took it to the "Geek Squad" at Best Buy and they suggested I buy a new computer. I did as they suggested and they were able to get my files off of my old computer and transfer them. I still have the computer and have been told by a few people that all I need to do is purchase Windows XP and reinstall it. I don't want to do this with out feeling sure that this will solve the problems. Does any one have any suggestions on what I should do?

  1. You are very lucky that your computer could get thoese files so i would back up everything that you don't want to loss pictures movies music etc and make sure you are up to date on your updates and make sure you do not turn off the power while it is updating

it realy depends on what you are going to do gaming, word, speard sheat, surfing the web
