Problem with connecting my mini DV Camcorder to my imac?

i connected my camera with a firewire/ilink cable but when i try to upload footage or use my camera as a preview source for a stopmotion program is says nothing is available. please help =(

The camcorder needs to be in "Play/Edit" mode.

What application are you using?

What camcorder are you using?

Do you have another firewire cable to try?

Occasionally, I have found it necessary to restart iMovie for the camcorder to be recognized for importing miniDV tape based video.
