Question:

Problem with fish tank??

I have a freshwater basic ten gallon fish tank. And for some reason, the water keeps turning green. The tank water was 100% changed, the tank cleaned out ,and the gravel washed, just last week.

But the water turned green in a few days, and at first I thought the filter system was clogged,So I cleaned it,and a new filter cartridge was put in the same time the tank was changed, but yesterday I looked at the tank water and it's STILL green ,so anybody know why?

And this has happened a lot before too,and I tried using clear-water,a different type of fish food, and different filter systems, but nothings worked.

  1. i agree with rag doll. the same thing happened to mine....again due to to much sun light

  2. A UV sterilizer will rid you of "pea soup" forever.  But they're expensive.

Usually it is too much light that causes this, check your wattage, it may be too high.  Or if the tank is near a window, move it to a shady spot.

Many fish owners, especially goldfish owners actually love the green water.  They cultivate it and swear it keeps their fish healthier!

  3. something like that has happened to me, make sure your not feeding your fish too much, if you over feed them the food will sink to the bottom of your tank and rot. give them a small amount of food, wait for them to eat it all, then give them a little bit more. when a piece of fish food sinks to the bottom and the fish don't eat it, stop feeding them.

also it could be that there is too much light.

    i hope i helped :)

  4. change water after some days...

don't bring over food to fish in tank

  5. too much light ...

when you go out / put a towel over the tank ...
