Question:

Problem with flash player updation in Vista?

I use net-downloaded (authorised s/w from HP site for Vista) s/w for HP2400 scanner. Its best feature is that I can scann multiple photos at one go. Now this s/w seems to be using an older version of flash player. So when I access youtube or anyother site that requires flash player its advices that I update my player. If I do that, the HP software does not work, though I can still scan with the in-built utility of Vista (minus the ability to scan multiple photos at one go which is a huge downside).

As far as updating scanner s/w is concerned, the HP is yet to come out with updates that are compatible with Vista.

Incidentally, it is not possible to keep both versions of flash player. The system doesn't work that way.

What do I do so that I can access new flash player compatible sites as well as use my HP scanner software?

  1. You obviously have a 64 - bit system as do I.

I had similar problems and found out that flash player is not yet compatible with 64 - bit.

I use a 32 - bit browser to get around the problem.  I can't tell the difference in speed or quality and flash player works fine.

  2. I don't think there is a way. Since Windows Vista is the newest operating system, software producers and manufacturers haven't had time yet to write, de-bug, and publish new software compatible with Vista.
