Problem with gas weed trimmer?

Im trying to fix a weed trimmer Its a gas powered weed eater brand trimmer that sits on an axle with two wheels. I took it apart and every time after about six pulls the crank rope comes all the way out and wont go back in by itself so i have to break it down again and over and over and push it around untill it comes back in. Any suggestions on what could be the problem before i took it apart i had no problems with the crank rope. Also it cranks but when you give it gas it shuts off evey time. any suggestions. thanks

If  I understand you right, your saying that the rope want go back in even when the lid is off the engine .It sounds like the rope spring is bad or it needs to be tightened.It can be tricky to repair.( Be careful)

well the rope comes out because your coil spring is broken. as far as giving it gas, clean your air filter change the oil use new gas, and clean the carb. If that doesnt fix it, then i would have it serviced.
