Question:

Problem with home made ethernet/cat 5 cable splitter

I took an ethernet/ cat 5e line and cut it. I stripped it partly and used two keystone jacks and wired it using this guide:

The side with the orange and green wires works when i plug it into the computer, but the side with the blue and brown wires doesn't work. I wired the jacks with the same configuration on the webpage. Could anyone help with the situation? Thanks.

  1. I guess my first question back to you would be...Why? What exactly are you trying to accomplish? most devices that use an ethernet cable will not work by splitting an ethernet cable in this way. A simple switch is a much easier and simple way of splitting the cable see link below.
