Question:

Problem with interior lights dimming with stereo... interior cutting off for a second?

I just bought new subwoofers and finally got a chance to listen to them today. I had it up loud, but the interior lights were dimming pretty bad and then the whole interior would "reset" I guess you can say? Everything shut off for a second or so and turned back on. It's only done that since putting in the new subwoofers. I have a capacitor and everything is wired up right. Is it just too much power? Do I have to buy a better battery or upgrade the alternator? I have two amps running; the one to the subs is 80 amps and the other for the component speakers is 30 amps.

  1. Thats enough power to drain ya battery.  sounds like your alternator cant keep up with the demand. Try upgrading the big 3. was your car running when your system was up?

  2. wired incorrectly causing shorts.most likely your negatives and positives are hooked up backwards and that creates shorts and messes up you lighting and config. go check your set up

  3. it sounds like you have it wired to the same circuit as the lights. you need to rewire it up to something that's more heavy duty as it sounds like your overloading the light circuit and will eventually blow a fuse
