My 2004 Chevy Impala (v-6 3.8) Keeps dying for no appearant reason. I had it to the dealer, they test drove it, hooked up thier scan tool and did all kinds of pressure tests (so they say) They cannot find 1 thing wrong with the vehicle. I drove it away and it has been about 2 weeks and yesterday it did it twice. (Both while driving). Just before it dies, it jerks. It started up immediatly but then died about 5 minutes later. One mechanic said (without looking at it) that it sounds like the "torque converter clutch cylonoide" One mechanic says maybe just a clogged fuel filter. Any suggestions? The torque converter cylonoide is not an easy task from what I understand. ONE MOER THING: I dont know if these two problems are related, but for some reason the fuel guage needle swings from half full to a quarter full and back to half full over and over again for no reason while the car sits in idol. HELP...AHHHHH!! Thanks!

  1. The dealers have a recording device that plugs into the cars computer. When you experience a problem you press a button on the recorder and it records the problem. Then they will download the info from the recorder. A friend had this done by the Chevy dealer on his 05 Trailblazer because he had the same problem. It worked. Sorry I do not know what it was.
