I have a schecter stilleto studio 5 5 string bass and i recently had to change the battery i got brand new duracell batteries and put them in it worked fine for a few minutes but then it started sounding really quiet and somtimes poppy and fuzzy. Does anyone know what is wrong i am pretty sure it is not a falty wire or bad battery

  1. I've been a working guitarist for 40 years now, and I've seen just about every problem with guitars that one can have and what you're describing is a bad connection. It may be a wire, or battery contact, it may be some corrosion or a bad cord, but I would bet it's a poor connection somewhere between the pickups and the amp. I would check the moving parts like volume and tone controls or the pickup selector switch first because the popping and fuzzy sound could be caused from an intermittent signal or bad cord.  Hope this helps.

  2. More than likely, it is a faulty wire... I had the same issue on one of my bass guitars, and I had to have the back panel opened, and had to rewire the treble k**b on it... it works fine now... it also could be a bad cable or amp...
