Problem with my sony cybershot dsc-w55!!! help please! im on vacation without a camera!!!!?

My camera has been seeming to work fine until recently. I turned it on and the screen was black and said access and the lens kept popping in and out. finally the screen said turn the power off and on again. what is wrong with my camera? please help me!!!! I will give best answer!

  1. By any chance, is your vacation near a beach?  Sounds like a small particle (like sand) has gotten on your lens and is causing the lens to keep going back in and turning the camera off.  It happens a lot of times.  Use gravity to your advantage.  Try turning it on so that the lens is pointed towards the floor.  

    It also could have been dropped and now something is blocking the lens from functioning normally.  If this is the case, there is little you can do.

    Also, make sure your batteries are full.  May not be the problem, but it never hurts to eliminate it as the source.

    If you can't get it working, get some disposable cameras.  They may not be the best, but its better than no pictures right?  At least you'll get some pictures until you can decide whether or not you need to get it repaired or write it off and buy another camera.
