i use a netgear router with twc internet service.. around 130pm today i was able to get online and do whatever i needed to, and then around 4pm i tried getting online and i couldnt connect to a wireless network. the reason my computer gives is "the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network" I am the only one who uses my computer, and i didnt change anything, nor did i even mess with anything.. Has anybody ever had this problem.. I have never seen it before and dont know what it means..

i use a hp pavilion, runs vista, i use time warner cable for internet connection, and a netgear router.. the box says its a wireless-g router WGR614...

also if i just plug straight into my modem, internet works..

  1. Try plugging a cable directly into the router and see if you can get onto the internet that way. If you can, it probably means the settings for wireless may have been buggered either on the router or the laptop.

Once you have determined you can get online wired, double check all your wireless settings on the router and laptop. Make sure everything is the same, then try your connection again.

  2. I have the same problem

    Same laptop

    Same router

I just turn the router off for half a hour as me and my brother use it at the same time it can get very hot, even on my own it still gets hot.

It seems to be fine after that.

If your still having problems call out someone to have a look

    Hope I Helped!

  3. The two most likely explanations for this are:

    1) You were never connected to your own router and were actually using someone else's Internet access. That person has finally decided to lock you out.

    2) Someone hacked into your router (did you have a wireless key? did you change the default password?) and locked you out of it.

  5. Netgear is good, I prefer Linksys (for reasons the average user doesn't have to be concerned with), d-Link is also good.

The message means that the security in the router is not the security the computer has stored for that router.  Right click on the internet icon in the tray (the little monitor) and select the "Connect to" choice.  Watch what you think is your signal.  Turn off your router.  The signal that disappears is your router.  (Were you looking at the right one?)  If it was, factory reset the router (read the documentation, right-click on that signal, Properties, and set to no security.  Then connect to it, set it the way you want, with a password - WPA2-Personal/TKIP is good - save it, reset the properties to WPA2-Personal/TKIP, put in the password and it should connect again.
