Question:

Problem with slugs in my house?

I have a problem with slugs getting inside my house. They only come in at night. If I see one, I chuck salt on it but usually I don't see them.

I have no idea where they are getting in so I can't target that area.

I do NOT want to put down loads of salt or insect killer etc because I have a 15 month old son who will play with whatever I put on the floor.

Any suggestions as to how I can get rid of them?

  1. Oh my gosh, that'd be awful. I see slugs on the sidewalk and some on my front porch but only when its wet or humid. I don't know what you can do, but maybe Home Depot or a green house would know. I think they're harmless but you don't want them in your house and you sure don't want any type of poison around your baby.

  2. Buy one of these cheap rubber mats that has a surface of small rubber prickles.  Cut it up and lay strips across the outside of your door.

  3. You don't after use loads of salt, just try sprinkling a little across the threshold of your outside doors, on the outside-side. This worked for me.

  4. could you not but 1 of those silcon tubes and seal all your skirtin borads, under cupboards, bascially all around the floor(at the edges) of your home. and once its dry it goes hard so there won't be a problem with your son, its cheaop and neat.

  5. Treat the exterior of the house with a quality insecticide. Spray around the foundation and concentrate around the doors. Bugs can easily slip under your doors if the weatherstripping is worn.

Try this'it works. Leave a little beer in a bottle. Place them outside laying down with the opening touching the ground. Slugs can't resist beer and will flock to to the bottles and then drown inside.

  6. Tip   some   beer  into    old  glass.

    and  the  slugs   will  drown.
