Problem with the Epson Scan on my all in one Epson Sylus DX4450?

I bought an All In One Epson Stylus DX4450 in December 2007 (I still have the receipt) and it has now developed a problem with the Epson Scan. I had no problems up until 2 weeks ago. I went to scan a picture into my pc, i opened Epson Scan, it refused to load up so i brought up windows task manager which told me that it was not responding.

I went onto the Epson website to find a solution but could not get any help so i emailed them and they told me to uninstall every Epson program then reinstall from scratch which i did (i followed the instructions to the letter) but when i tried to reinstall Epson Scan (which is the 1st program on the suite) it would not install and i had to bring up task manager to end it as it was not responding. I emailed Epson again, they told me to try it on another computer so i tried to install it on my sisters laptop and i had the same problem.

I am now still waiting for Epson to get back to me (over a week later) and i am wondering if anyone else has had this problem? Does anyone know how 2 fix it?

  1. You need to take it back to the company you bought it from. Under The Sale of Goods act they are responsible as you paid them the money not Epson.

Every item comes with a 12 month guarantee and its up to the shop to repair or give you a replacement if the scanner is faulty.

  2. I am not sure if this will fix it but try downloading the software from epson, you may have an issue with your cd and epson may have also released a newer version of the software where you will not have the problem with it. If that does not work I am not sure what the issue could be, I would maybe tell epson the printer is broken and hope that they just replace the thing.
