Problem with video camera

Question

we dropped our sony handy cam and it will not focus and flashes an E:61:00 warning sign on the screen. we purchased it at best buy in 2005, is clearly out of warrenty. is this something i can bring to best buy for repair/evaluation? or do i need to send to sony for evaluation thanks, cathy
