Problem with vonage adapter and IP address

Question

i just recieved my vonage adapter and connected it to my time warner modem. when the vonage adapter tries to locate an IP address it comes up error code 3. can anybody please tell me why? are they not compatible or something?

It appears that your device is set for receiving a dynamic IP address.

But, as the Vonage error code indicates, your ISP may be requiring you to set your Vonage device to a specified IP address assigned to you by your ISP.  Just follow the Vonage instructions listed under error 003 to resolve the issue.
