Problem with wireless adapter.?

I have an HP dv6646us notebook with Windows Vista Premium, and i'm using the internal wireless adaptor (Broadcom 4321AG 802.11 a/b/g draft-n Wi-Fi Adaper). Once I turn on the computer I would connect to the internet fine but after about 15-30 minutes I would get the message "Limited or no connectivity." After that I'll disconnect from the network and refresh list of networks in the area but no networks show up. The only way I can fix this is if I restart the computer or put to sleep than turn it back on. This is very annoying because it happens frequently. I did a factory restore, unchecked the IPv 6, and reinstalled the drivers and nothing seems to be working. Also I don't think it is my router because this happens at other people's home. Any help as to fix this would be awesome. Thanks!

  1. first thing to do is change the channel on the wireless router from default 6 to any other channel - 1 and 11 are first picks

    you may have a neighbors router signal drifting in

    Make sure router is high and not obstructed

    If you are on g you might want to try setting it to "g " only"  rather than mixed

    make sure the ssid is not at defaults - linksys or wireless for linksys, default for d-link

    first thing is change the channel


  2. Making the assumption that the wireless card isn't being turned off and is still on. Check the power output settings for the adapter. Sometimes the auto power off will cause this and sometimes the power output will cause it.. Wireless should be set to stay on 100% of the time and use 100% power output. Unfortunately by default that isn't always the case.

       1. Click Start and then right-click the Computer icon.

       2. Select Properties from the menu list. The System window appears.

       3. Select the Device Manager from the left panel of the System window. Accept any prompts that may appear.

       4. Click the plus sign (+) next to Network Adapters .

       5.  Right-click on the WLAN adapter in the list and select Properties

    .   6. On the Advanced tab select Power Output from the Properties list. The value should be 100%.

          If the value is set any number lower than 100% change the value to 100% and then click OK .

       7. Close the Device Manager, restart the notebook PC and attempt to reconnect to the wireless network.

    Also do the same thing under Power Settings for the computer. Be sure the wireless card is set to stay on!

    If this isn't the issue I would say contact HP for some more help or visit the online support area for HP and your model. I found this information on there some time ago on an HP that would stop after about 30 minutes.

    I have had this issue on two different HP's. Both times power wasn't set to 100.
