I have been weight lifting for a year now. Having trouble working my chest while benching. It doesn't work it for some reason, i only feel it in my tris and anterior delts. I've tried wider grip, but doesn't work. Any ideas?

  1. do dumbbell flyes after your normal workout as they are isolation exercises  they will only work your chest, cable cross overs and pec decks (or chest flye as called occasionally) re other isolation exercises

  2. try using a butterfly machine, or just do pushups galore

  3. Your form may be the problem.  Check these sites for proper bench press form:

    Hope it helps...

  4. In that case make sure to spread apart you lat and delt excercises or do the bench first. You are feeling it in those areas because those areas must be sore. Take flaxeed oil and that will lower the soreness. With that said drink chocolate milk after every workout to compensate for your loss in protein,  chocolate is full of antioxidants which helps. For your problem, I recommend slow reps with High weight, preferably 85% of your max. 3 seconds up 3 seconds down. If you don't know your 1 time max you should find it out and do the math. Ask your spotter to randomly tell you to stop mid rep and push up for your last rep.
