  1. I have the same problem too. One thing I have found that helps is finding someone that runs your goal time consistently and pacing off them for at least the first mile. By doing this, you can focus easily on a simple goal and not worry about your splits. If you choose a consistent runner to pace off of, then you don't have to worry about times because they will take you to your goal time.

In general, it is good to have a slightly faster 1st mile time, and then stay consistent at a slightly slower pace for the next two miles. This can change based on the course and where any hills are.

  2. when u start out a race u should run about 100 meters of striding striding IS NOT sprinting striding is : u need to move ur legs at teh same speed u would for ur normal running pace however u extend ur legs out further and push off the ground to give u extra momentum and distance make sure u are not sprinting after 25 meters all 25 of the first meters u need to sprint so that u are in fron of nayone on the start if ur caugfht in the pack u will be slowed down by toehr runners and will prolly have a slow start

  3. You will just have to go start slow. If you go out to fast....you will have a hard time running the last 2k or so, so start slow.

You might think that you will be slow if you start slow, but thats not true.

Heres how I tell my runners to run a race for a 5k.

For the 800 or so, just get into position. If your want to be in top 10, make sure your not in the 70's, make sure you are with are close to top 10, maybe top 20. Also just get into the race. Get your legs going and focus.

From about 1-2 mile is where I tell them to run. This is where all the running and training you do come into place. This is where you have to run a little faster than you normally do so you can be ready for the last mile.

For the last mile, try to stay strong and finish hard.

  4. Right it might seem slow but trust me it works. When I did my run I was last. Half way around the whole track we had to do, I over took the person in front- at the end of the race I was 4th. I had started last.

If its too slow just think "I'm saving it for the last bit of the race"

If you cant do it i recommend you do a different sort of race 400m 200m maybe even 100m.

But try what I said it may help
