  1. I have had vonage for 6 months and I love their service.  Maybe it is your area.  Don't you love the online dashboard and how you can make all these changes like the simulring?

  2. get a DECT 6.0 Panasonic phone with build-in router/firewall...

  3. i would get rid of vovage.

  4. I have a DECT phone by Panasonic and I have no problem with Vonage. What does Vonage say about your problem?

  5. Your location does not have much bandwidth or it is inconsistent bandwidth.  This can happen if you have a crappy cable/dsl connection or the company that provides it to you is crappy.  You can try to upgrade to the next higher bandwidth service they offer and that may help but in many cases all you are doing is upgrading the maximum bandwidth that will come through your connection at good times;  the minimum bandwidths that cause the scratchiness may still occur at times at any level of service.  This variable in bandwidth may change according to how many others in your area are sharing internet at a given time and other factors.

If your signal is going through a router before it gets to your phone, the router is probably hurting the signal and providing insufficient bandwidth to the phone system.  You may notice more trouble when someone in your home is using the internet at the same time as the phone is being used even if they are wirelessly using the connection.

Try a firmware upgrade on the router-this helps about ten percent of the time.  Make sure your router is a good one that can output the amount of bandwidth in gigs your phone system requires; if not, get one that does.  Don't believe the stats when dealing with computer parts-they are all exaggerations; get parts that are rated significantly better than what you need.

Limit the bandwidth demand on the computer to something a little faster than dialup so it won't steal your phone's signal needs as much.  You can do that in the modem settings.  If you need to download something big, temporarily set it higher and be aware that the phone will not work as good til you change it back.

Contact Vonage and ask for more advice.

  6. get a better phone like a Panasonic
