Question:

Problems at Mexico's border?

I was told that the border patrol for Mexico was pretty much corrupt. They could do whatever they wanted to you. If they knew you had money, they could bribe it out of you. Maybe even take your things...

Does anyone know anything about this or has had any experiences?

Thank you.

  1. I have never heard of such a thing happening. Have many friends who have been caught and have not mentioned anything like that.

  2. My husband and I have been visiting many cities in Mexico for a number of years, have even walked across the border in Texas, Arizona, and California for shopping and had no problems whatsover.  We spend two weeks in Ixtapa every year, and we absolutely love it there.  Let me suggest if you're concerned about corruption, go to travel.state.gov and check it out.  They offer a wealth of information.

  3. i cross the border frequently.  and the only problem i've ever had was the lady who takes your 3 pesos to cross the walking bridge.  that witch gave me incorrect change, and then pretended like she didn't.  i got another mexican border officer and told him my story, he went and yelled at her and he let me pass.  he told me she was just a mean, fat, cheater, and i shouldn't let her bother me, she does that to all the white people.  so....my advice would be to bring exact change and that won't happen to you.

but otherwise....bribing money is not considered weird in mexico, and they don't do it to be mean.  they help you save money on taxes, and they get to feed their family.  it's not meant to extort you.  i've never had anyone treat me badly, and i go about once a month.

  4. i don't think so, your mom should not mingle with former kkk members girl...

  5. With the Bush admin in charge of it, it is sure to be corrupt and dangerous.

    Peace.

  6. yeah.  You should stay home.

  7. You should not have any problems at the border. Mexican Customs are not a problem for anyone other than Mexican citizens.   I have lived on the border most of my life and have never had any problems.

  8. Are you sure your not talking about the Clinton Administration?

  9. allways keep a  $100. bill in your socks?? the border patrol, federal and state police is cool, but watch out for them broke city cops

  10. WELL MEXICO IS THE LEAST PEED OFF AND THAT IS JUST A BUNCH OF LIES.

MEXICO IS  PRETTY MUCH CORRUPT REGARDLESS AND MORE TO TURIST.  BUT IT WAY MORE BETTER THAN IN COLUMBIA

MEXICO IS CHANGING!!!!!!!! THERE IS NEW HOPE IN PRESIDENT CALDERON WHO WILL IN TIME CHANGE THINGS.  TIJUANA HAS CHANGED ALOT AND WITH THE NEW PAN GOVT. THINGS  ARE GOING TO CHANGE  CAUSE THEY WILL HAVE CALDERON'S PEEP'S BREATHING DOWN THEIR NECKS.

JUST WITH PRI LOOSING,,, TIJUANA HAS CHANGED AND FROM A PERSON WHO GOES OFTEN,,, I CAN SAY THAT.

YES THERE IS STILL CORRUPTION,  BUT AS FOR ME AND OTHERS, I DON'T DO BUISNESS AS USUAL CAUSE I DON'T BRIBE THE OFFICERS AND FACE IT, ALL THEY WANT IS MONEY.$$$$$  AND I DON'T GIVE BRIBES.  IF I MESSED UP, I PAY THE FINE. IF NOT,  I TELL  THEM HOW WRONG THEY ARE AND  THEY LEAVE ME ALONE CAUSE  THEY WANT ONE TO GIVE THEM MONEY.

A  POLICE OFFICER GETS  300 - 500 A MONTH AND  I'M SORRY TO SAY THAT PRICES ARE NOT CHEAP AND INSTEAD OF GETTING ANOTHER JOB, THEY USE AND ABUSE AND STEAL MONEY WITH BRIBES.

YES MEXICO IS A GREAT PLACE TO SEE AND RICH IN HISTORY, FOOD AND A GREAT PLACE TO PARTY. BUT WHAT YOU DO IN THE USA  YOU SHOULD DO IN MEXICO.  YOU DO THAT, NO PROBLEMA.

    TAKE CARE

  11. The border patrol or Immigration Officers at the border are like anywhere else. You have good straight up types and you have corrupt types. If you have all of your papers, and nothing to raise  red flags, you should be fine. If you enter or exit the border at odd hours, you may find that you get interrogated more because there are less people they need to let through so they have more time to look at your carefully. Again, keep all your papers with you at all times and don't do anything to raise unnecessary suspicion. And if possible, always travel with someone else.

If anything, I've experienced some "corrupt" officers while actually in Mexico. But that has more to do with the police and not immigration.

  12. in the time of Bush administration you can see any thing of those red nicks

they may allow those nasty patrol to kill the intruders just like the klue klue clans

and the allow the real danger to the country like the drug smuglers and heroon emperor

but the poor people they try to find a  respected wat to live

they shot them on the border as a crrosers

  13. I'm a bit confused as to which border patrols you refer to. The young ex-marines who give you attitude at the border crossing into the US or the Mexican border guards. I've traveled in Mexico and lived in the Baja Norte state for 25 years and have never been rousted or asked for a bribe. Don't put your money in your shoe or socks its the first place the criminal will look for it. Corruption exists in every country, just look at the US federal government.
