  1. Dear Friend. I am just wandering, who gave you all these negative information about Chennai. Though living in Chennai does create some problem, if you happens to come from North India. These are common problem very one will face while entering as new City.

    1. Water problem is Universal now, all over India. Chennai is not excluded. The water scarcity occurs only during peak summer, only for about a month or so, that too during the low rainy year. Any how, the water from Krishna River is being supplied to Chennai City from Andhra Pradesh, during summer.

    2. Food is not at all a problem now. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, you will get all type of food. In Chennai you can get a good North Indian meal, consisting of roti and Subjis, at a cost equivalent to what it costs in Delhi. You can also get Gujarathi and Marwari Thali for Rs 25 - 40.

    3. As a general practice all over India, people will normally does not like to let their House to Bachelors. there are many PG hostels for you to stay. Hence it is not a problem.

    4. I agree that Auto is costly at Chennai. It is also true that they extract more, if they find the person is a non Tamilian. It is also true that it is similar the non Chennai people experience, once they land in any North Indian City. The Auto people are bound to extract more every where. It is their natural behavior. Since Chennai has got excellent local bus facilities, cheapest in India, and more frequent in service, you need not depend upon Autos. The local train service is excellent and less crowded, compared to Mumbai. You can stay in any suburb and reach your place of work in time, by train.

The only problem is the Language. You are expected to learn Tamil, to communicate with others. You can learn some basic  words for the daily use within a month.

    Good luck.
