I have a sony handycam dcrdvd-108 when i try to import the video files to windows movie maker it says:

The file C:\Documents and Settings\Yama\My Documents\My Pictures\New Folder\20080224113308.mpg cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

  1. In my experience, windows movie maker supports mpeg-1 video, avi, wmv, and asf format.
convert your files to mpeg-1 type.
