I recently bought a used 2000 ninja 250 that was not in the best of shape. When I bought it, it worked fine. Starting yesterday, the engine dies as soon as I shift to first gear. It starts fine every time, but as soon a I shift to first gear the engine stops. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

  1. Is the bike jumping when it does that?It sounds like the clutch is not disengaging all the way.If the clutch is still grabbing when the lever is pulled all the way in your clutch cable could be stretching and getting ready to break.

Yeah i forgot about the sidestand switch! I ride old dinosaur bikes that don't have that nifty stuff lol.

  2. sidestand switch may be faulty
