Question:

Problems uninstalling McAfee products from my computer...?

It has been months, if not a year, since I uninstalled McAfee from my computer, but I recently tried to install another antivirus and it said that I still had McAfee and had to remove it first. I searched on the web and apparently I'm not the only one with this problem, so I downloaded a program called McAfee Removal Tool (http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe). However, it completely removed all products except Internet Security Suite, and worst of all, after using it my computer wasn't able to connect to the internet. What should I do?

  1. yea i had some trouble like that before. i ran the tool and still got icons after restart. the way i fixed it was to boot into safe mode.

Run>msconfig>Boot tab>Put a check in safe mode box> hit okay

    and reboot

use the tool again and see what it removes, once it reboots again into windows safe mode.

go back to Run>msconfig>geneeral tab>select normal startup

and that will boot u back into regular windows, you will get some message saying something about you changed the configuration and do you want to receive this message again, HIT NO, and the message wont appear anymore.

if that doest work, use the live tech support, its free, even if you have an illegal version, wish would be wrong to have!

hope this helps! and good luck

  2. Hi did you check under control panel and then add and remove programs and see if mcafee was still there?

also if you cant connect to internet click start then click connect to and you should be good to go.
