  1. JVC Everio mod/ moi files

& PRISM Video Converter (free) or Super

For JVC hdd standard definition vcams, video clips are split into .MOD & .MOI files. When split, cannot import clips into a non-linear editing app without first using another software– to create a unified MPEG-2 file. The import/conversion process is simple but time consuming. Check clarification on JVC .mod and Carol's instructions on MOD conversion using Prism: http://www.dotwhat.net/lang_eng/files_m/...

try to set the output to avi - highest resolution in order not to further degrade vid quality, but expect bigger files.

noted that you've tried out renaming filename extension from .mod to .mpg but still with some constraints.

  2. Your camcorder is recording in MPEG-2, a format that WMM doesn't support.  To make things worse, JVC chose to use a slightly modified form of MPEG and store it in .mod files - other editors have problems too!  The Everio should have come with Cyberlink editing software, so I'd start there.  You may be able to rename the .mod files to .mpg and use a commercial editor, but I've heard mixed reports about how successful this is.   Try renaming the .mod files to .mpg and then converting them to WMV with Super.  I'd expect the quality to suffer, but at least you'd be able to do something.

  3. Wow two awesome answers right there! I use the intervideo winDVD creator which supports the .MOD file and so does the Power Producer  in which comes with the JVC camcorder Everio .. But I also use the Any Video converter software.\

All good answers my unknown friend hahaha
