Question:

Problems with Double Exposure?

Hi, I have a 35mm Canon AE-1 Program, and I've been having problems with double exposures. I have a 400 speed film, and everything works perfectly fine, except for the double exposures. I don't want them right now. I wind the film after every shot, and I don't expose the film to light, etc. The film just keeps getting double exposed. Can anyone tell me how to stop this or give me tips? Thanks.

  1. umskies, answer me this - when you look at your negatives, is there the space between the frames, or does it look like one giant long exposure?

From what I can tell, it seems like you're having some problems with your camera's drive. At least, that's what it's sounding like to me.  If you're not pushing the button on the bottom while you're winding the film, there's no reason your camera would take multiple exposures unless the film is not fully moving forward with each wind.

This is about the concept I could think of.
