Question:

Problems with Rental Property. Real Estate company hasn't done anything, what now?

I have been renting a house with my two roommates for 3 months. We moved in gradually over time, and noticed on our first week there that our basement was damp and mildewy. We contacted our real estate agent and they claimed it was a problem with our gutters, and fixed it. We then, over the next period of time noticed that it gets worse as it rains. Our house will have a slight odor to it at times like mold and dampness.

We have been waking up congested and with headaches and nothing has been done.

Then our driveway is literally all stones and pulling into it, is treacherous because there is a gap between the road and the driveway itself. It scratches the bottom of all of our cars and we have again, asked and asked for something to be done and they say they will.... then dont.

What now?

I love this house and cannot afford nor have the time to move somewhere different. What legal actions, if any can be taken?

  1. I hope you have complained about the congestion and headaches.  It sounds like there could be a mold problem there.  You might want to see if (where you live) they have some sort of housing agency that might be able to assist you with this issue.  If you find that agency, ask them about your other problems.

    Good luck.

  2. IF it's in  your contract, then you can sue...If not then you are out of luck.
