Question:

Problems with Renult Megane Alize not starting?

My Renault Megane is 8 years old and is having problems in starting up. Starting the car is on an ad-hoc basis, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. The engine sounds perfectly healthy but it simply won't start. When it doesn't I may leave it for a few minutes and it starts, other times I may have to leave it for an hour or so and it may start. The car may start, I go on a short or long journey, but on returning to the car whether 2 minutes later or 2 hours later, the car won't fire up. I have absultely no other problems with my car as it was previously very reliable.

  1. Hi

the problem will most likey be caused by the TDC (sometimes called crank sensor) failing, its a regular and annoying renault fault.

you can get a new one for around £20 at the most from most motor factors, try euro car parts or german swedish and french car parts.

its an easy part to change, try phoning local garage and see how much they want to change it

    best of luck
