Problems with Sony Bravia LCD tv - vertical lines?

We have had our Sony Bravia LCD tv for 2 years and now we have vertical lines when we watch regular tv and on our DVDs. They seem to be getting worse. They aren't signal probems I've been told. It's starting to get bothersome seeing those lines there. Please help!

i would like to add to julabusk,s answer that it might be the problem of high gain ...means ur getting highly amplified signals through ur cable....or it might b due to some leakage of current in ur electrical circuit of your house....or it might b due to some electronic gadget running but again if lines r temporarily coming.......it might b due to low voltage try to check by adding voltage stabliser.....or else u need professional help there can b problem of dry (soldering)...bye

i have heard that can happen if you plug it directly into a wall with out a surge protector in between the tv power plug and the wall. so use one it should fix it. very common reason. if that does not do it contact the manufacture i am can garuntee that is the problem though lol. have fun watching tv.

You need to describe these lines better.  Are they moving or stationary?  Are they very fine lines with sharp edges or are they more like bands with soft edges?  How many lines do you see, and how wide are they (compared to the screen width)?

Fine lines that are stationary:  defect in the electronics causing a vertical row of pixels to be dead or stuck.  Can only be fixed by replacing major parts.

Broad lines with soft edges that move:  could be electrical "hum" interference.  Make sure you are using a grounded (3-pin) power plug, and that the outlet is properly wired.  (Take the TV to a another location and see if the problem goes away).

Make sure you don't have fluorescent light fixtures nearby--they can interfere with the picture if the bulbs or ballast is defective.
