  1. It could be a variety of reasons such as incompatible Add-ons, incompatible toolbars, lack of system resources (RAM) due to too many running applications, Malware, Java problems, etc. Hard to say without knowing the error details.

First run your resident security products such as antivirus and antispyware applications. If everything comes up clean, try uninstalling your toolbars such as Google or Yahoo through Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. If the issues continue, go to Tools, Manage Add-ons and disable each one by itself to see if one of them is the culprit.

If your computer comes up clean after running your resident security products, you may want to consider running a System File Checker (SFC). This can also be run in Safe Mode should you prefer.

To get into Safe Mode, reboot and then either hold down or tap the F8 key repeatedly while the computer is starting up. To run SFC, close all applications such as Office, Messenger, Email, etc, and go to:

    - Start

    - Run

    - Type in sfc /scannow (include the space before the " / ")

What SFC does is that it attempts to fix or replace critical operating system files. Sometimes this can be done without the installation disk, however it may prompt you for the appropriate operating system installation disk. If that is the case, then you know that you definitely have major file corruption or something missing. Insert the disk if prompted. Also you should run SFC using the Administrator account.

If you have the Vista operating system, the steps are a bit different due to the UAC. See the link below.

Don't surf, play games or do anything while SFC runs. After it is completed, reboot your computer.

One of the major culprits in missing or corrupt operating system files is running a registry cleaner or optimizer. They can flag important shared files for deletion or cleanup. Another cause is malware.

NOTE: Before running any registry cleaner or editing the registry, always ensure you back it up first. If the registry cleaner you are using doesn't have that function, you can do it manually. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756

Finally if everything above has been ruled out, you probably have a system resources problem. You can see if your computer can handle more RAM by going to Crucial.com and running a scan.

It's important to note that everything takes RAM. Not only security products (such as active anti-spyware, anti-virus and firewall) eat up memory but your operating system, active browser windows, running applications (such as Word, Gaming, Messenger, Photoshop, etc) and malware

  2. Its probably just forefox has maybe a bug or something, you an try to uninstall it, and reinstall firefox 3, and it should not freeze like that, if it does, then it could be something else.

computers tend to freeze at uncertain times, and panic clickings wont do any good.

  3. Upgrade to the newest version, or get more RAM, maybe better CPU, and if all else fails just get a new computer.

  4. Clear both browsers history files, cookies, saved forms, perform disk clea, update your antivirus, registry cleaner and antispyware and perform full scan of your machine

remove firefox (add/remove), remove data files in program files in local disk.

Delete all the folder content (mozilla firefox).

    download a new one

    www.firefox.com

make firefox your default, do not import anything from explorer to firefox when asked.

Use one browser to surf the net. Maybe your internet connection is configured in this manner,For example, when you are connected to the internet and browsing with internet explorer, it gives out your ip address to the server host of the site you are browsing, so when you try to use firefox at the same time, it might crash up coz ur ip is already assigned to internet explorer. Sometimes when you try to beat javascripts by doing this, there are some sites that require credit card to view videos, if you did not register on the site, you will be limited to view about 3 videos and with limited time of about 2minutes.

So in this case, when you use internet explorer (IE) to browse on that site, it takes note of your ip, therefore you will not be able to beat the javascript by browsing with firefox to view more videos on the same site.
