I can not seem to get a good balance of the two in my cage, when i leave the heat lamp on all the humidity escapes but it gets hot, then i leave my towel over the top to get it humid and the temp drops. I was thinking of purchasing a mister to help with humidity then keep the lamp on, or should i just get a good insulator to go on top of the cage where the wire mesh is? I got the exo terra cage for rainforest, you'd think they would have made it easier. So max temp i get is about 85* and max humidity is 60-70,but im getting one or the other at a time.Any suggestions?

  1. i myself have had this problem with just about every cage out there all sizes and after all the trial and error i found the easiest way to keep it humid while having a light going is to cover 1/2 to 3/4 of your screen cover with aluminum foil (forms well, hold moisture and droplets to drop back down, and wont catch on fire , all + in my book ..lol) and take a under tank heat pad and place a water dish on top of it and that will heat up the water and crate moisture and if its to much humidity then only have 1/2 the water bowl over the heat pad and also you can remove some foil and just test it out slowly. also the soil will play a big roll in how much moisture it holds so use a good substrate like ""Eco earth"" that comes in brick for(i use it for eggs in my incubators to) as sand and bark tend to get nasty moldy and smell terrible.

hope that helps and good luck!

  2. I just bought a cheap spray bottle for my frogs tank and mist it twice a day, that keeps the humidity up where it should be.Just make sure to get a new bottle that has never had any chemicals or cleaners in it.
