Last night there was a thunderstorm, and the power just flickered off, then it went right back on. The ethernet cable was still plugged into my computer, but I didn't think much of it. My friend told me i should take the cable out so i did and i also shut off the computer. Now today its not working. Im not exactly a huge computer genious so any insight would be nice.

  1. Do what Dee says but make sure your computer is turned off.  After the router comes back up, turn you computer on.  If it doesn't work after doing this, contact your ISP.

  2. disconnect the power and the ethernet cable on the modem, not your computer, and wait 30 seconds. Put the power and then the ethernet cable back in where they are supposed to go and try again. You may have to refresh your wifi list again.

  3. What do you mean it's not working? The cable? Can you try a different one? Does the router turn on? Does the laptop turn on?

  4. Unplug your modem and router if you have both, then wait 10-15 minutes and plug in the modem first, wait 'til it's finish syncing, then plug in the router. If you only have a modem, just plug in the modem. Hope this helps!
