Question:

Problems with my AK 47 ????

Ok the problem is not the actual gun but the relationship between the UTG pistol grip and the tactical laser with pressure mount. The pressure pads fit into the openings on the side of the pistol grip but how do you keep them in place. They just fall out! My buddy says wrap in electrical tape but is that not kinda ghetto!!! Does anyone know a better way to do this? Does Hogue make a sleeve or something that will fit over it to keep everything in place? help me out ????

  1. Well I have an old Rifle that I built off a Mosin Nagant ant put a laser, I used velcro to hold the pressure switch on I cut the velcro to fit the switch it looks good, plus when I do take the laser off it is easy.

  2. I took a 4 inch section of bicycle inner tube and stretched it over the vertical grip to hold the pressure switch in place. It's not permannent and it works just fine. The switch has never moved since i put the inner tube section over it.

  3. This may be more permanent than you want but try silicone adhesive to hold it in place.

  4. Hogue makes a variety of grips and stocks for rifles and pistols alike. I agree that electrical tape is a sub-standard solution for your problem, so talk with a local gunsmith and discuss your dilemma.

That said, I would personally trade it in for a scope and mount. Remember...

"The most accurate sight...is the telescopic sight."

  5. Rubber cement may be used rather than silicone, and the pads may still be removed at as later date. Acetone will clean up any rubber cement residue that is left behind.

Another more custom solution would be to visit a local large electrical supplier. They make heat shrink tubing up to 2" in diameter these days, simply cut it to length, slip it over the installed pads, and shrink it to a perfect fit in seconds with a cigarette lighter. This is a nice looking solution, similar to the rubber sleeve you want. In fact that's exactly what it is, a custom fitted rubber sleeve.
