  1. i used to do the same thing

try doing a backspin and in the middle of the spin, dont stop but do a loop jump and try to land and keep spinning

this will help you with landing on one foot

    good luck!

  2. I do that with my axle.  Lift your free leg a little higher when you pull in and delay checking out of the jump just a bit.  You'll probably fall a few times, but for me it was the only thing that forced me to land properly after time.

If you lift your leg higher just be careful to not chicken wing it like Yukari Nakano does sometimes.  It's a mystery how that works for her, but it doesn't work for anyone else.

  3. check your leg out sooner......good luck!

  4. Thats what my friend used to do. Just keep on practicing, and hold the foot your not landing on higher up. After doing that my friend could do it perfectly.

  5. I had the same problem!  It's because your leaning forward when you land.  I didn't think I was doing that but after my coach telling me to lean back 20 times I did and I landed it!  And It does help to go faster, make sure your on the right edge or your'll fall!  Good luck I hope I helped you!

  6. Instead of putting your free leg down, bend your skating knee (without breaking at the waist) so that you will drop or roll down onto your rocker and glide.  You are putting your foot down b/c you are coming to a stop on your toe pick.

Here's an overview of a loop & what I teach my students:

Is a loop an edge jump or a toe jump?

If you answered edge jump, the answer is yes in theory. If you take a closer look at a loop take off, it is actually a toe jump - you spring up off the toe pick and not the actual edge.

How far do you have to rotate in a loop?

If you answered 1 rotation, the answer is yes in theory. If you take a closer look at the rotation of a loop jump, the skater is actually forward by the time he/she actually takes off.

So if you think about the jump, you get to jump off of the toe and you only have to rotate 1/2 turn.

Does this mean you are cheating the take-off? Well, senior level skaters are getting full credit for triple loops that actually consist of 2 1/2 rotations - you decide.

    Hope this helps!
