Question:

Problems with my home theater in a box not playing DVDs but can play CDs?

I have owned the Panasonic SC-HT700 for quite some time now, but I have never really used it as a DVD player. Recently I had moved it to a different T.V. with no player, and decided to use it as the DVD player. Instead I find myself being told by the player that my DVDs are either the wrong format or they are blank. I have tried different DVDs as well as cleaners, but it does not seem to be able to read them. As for CD playing, it can play all kinds of CDs, even the MP3 CDs. Hopefully someone out there might have some info for me.

Thanks,

Ryan

  1. Wrong Format or Blank eh?  Sounds like the DVD player is attempting to read BURNED DVDs only....

Of course, if you have used Store-bought DVDs and they state wrong format, Then maybe your DVD player is reading the wrong region code...

Did you buy the unit overseas? Of course you didn't....

It must be the laser pickup assy then.....they can c**p out on DVDs yet still play CDs when they get older....

You might want to relegate it back to playing CDs...and get a new DVD player.
