Problems with my sky + remote?

Question

My remote will not operate my sky plus box or tv, when i press a button on the remote it is working as i get the red infra red light is showing everytime i pres a button. But i am unable to get the remote to work my sky box or tv..niether of them are responding to the remote control, i have re set the sky plus box and carried out a number of other truoble shooting tips. any uk yahoo users got any suggestions. thanks

This happens to us too, i think you either need to press the TV button or the SKY button on the remote.

One way to test to see if your remote is working is to do the following...

Get yourself a digital camera (the one on a phone will do)

Point the infrared led at the lens on the camera.

Wen you press a button on the control the camera will pick up the infra red and you will see the led flash in the view finder.

Trust me it works.

If you can see the led flashing then your remote is ok, and like a previous reply said try pressing the sky button.

Try taking the batteries out of the remote, pressing a few buttons, then putting the batteries back in. A Sky installation engineer told me to try that once and it worked for mine at the time so worth a try.
