Problems with my sony 1200w amp?

i have a sony 1200w amp (xm-2002gtr) hooked up to my car batter with a 8 gauge wire and an 8 gauge ground. when i turn on my system the blue light on my amp turns on only for a second then turns off. i tried rewiring my system and various grounds but the same thing happens. i turned down all the settings on my amp and tried but it turned off again. i dont understand what the problem is. can anyone help me outtt???

  1. ty a bigger gauge wire and if that does not work make sure your remote wire i think is the blue one just make sure that the remote wire is on the back oy your stereo

You really need a multimeter to do any serious troubleshooting.  Set the meter for DC volts, put the black probe on the ground terminal and test the battery and remote terminals on the amp.  If both show 12 volts, and the amp isn't on, then there's a problem with the amp.  If there's no voltage on the power wire, check your battery connection and fuse holder.  If there's no voltage on the remote wire, your deck or remote wire connection may have a problem.  If there's no voltage on either one, check your ground.

  3. The problem is spelled out right there on the amp...SONY.

  4. more then likely their is an internal problem with the amp and it will cost more to get it fixed then its worth
