Question:

Problems with roommates pet?

Although I am allergic to cats, I have a one. He's all white, doesn't shed, so for the first time in my life I have no allergic reaction -to this one anyway. I'm still allergic to all other cats.

My roommate, knowing this, plans on getting a cat anyway. (Both males too.) Needless to say I'm *&^% angry.

So, this is the first time I've ever had a cat much less multiple ones.

Is it possible to keep the new cat out of my cats litter box, away from my cats food and off my furniture?

  1. of course you just seperate them but you should avoid the other cats. just tell your roommate about that your house should always ba clean how come that ur not allergic with that one n for others u r. it depends upon how you will care for it.

  2. Do not bring the other cat into the house regardless of what your roommate wants.  It is not possible to keep the new cat out of your cat's litter box, etc.  If your roommate is determined anyway, then it is not worth it.  Tell him that you are moving out and look for another place for you and your cat.  It is not worth your risk, and your roommate should be more considerate.

  3. Have asked her/him not to get one?

  4. no you cant but what u can do is when your room mate is out you could slide the cat some rat poison, that all teach your roommate not to be a b-it-ch

  5. 2 male cats will fight for territory and the loser will have to go. Male cats will protect territory by spraying it and leaving their smell

  6. Cat allergies are caused by something in their saliva, and because they always l**k themselves this gets into their fur so if you stay away from it maybe that will help?

  7. Well, first of all, you can't be allergic to one cat and not another. Second, males won't necessairily fight but they will establish their own territories. In your case, it's simple, your cat has your bedroom and your roommate's cat has the other bedroom.

How is it fair that you have a cat and your roommate can't? Suppose your roommate insists that if he can't have a cat then you can't either. What would you do then?

  8. The only way to do that is to lock her cat up in her room every second of every day.  I doubt she's going to go for that.

Can you get some allergy pills from your doctor?

    Good luck.

  9. I'd consider trying to talk her into a different kind of pet.. like a rabbit or something..

But, the truth is..  is it fair for her to also pay rent and not be able to have a pet?   There are medications you can take for allergies, but I think instead of just telling her she can't have a cat.. I'd try selling her on other options instead..    I've never had a problem with small exotics and cats (or dogs for that matter) so if done well, they should get along well enough.
