Problems with rude cellphone operators. How to make them stop sending me adverts via text message?

I'm not from the usa, just want general advice.

I'm having problems with my cellphone operator. They keep sending me adverts via text message to my phone. I have requested them many times to please stop it. They said they were going to stop sending ads but they haven't yet. I'm waiting since may 31.

How long is reasonable to wait before I cancel my service with them?

I have nokia model 2125 and can't block unwanted text messages because the phone doesn't have that feature.

Do you know of a good nokia cellphone model (a simple phone, nothing fancy) which can screen/block phone numbers, so I can block unwanted calls and text messages?

Here in Illinois USA it is illegal to telemarket to anyone under 18.

If you assure them you are underage, the calls will stop.

This worked for my daughter.
